I attended 3 six week blocks of painting classes with Jilly and although I’m definitely very amateurish, found the knowledge and techniques which Jilly taught were extremely helpful. They gave me the confidence to pick up my brushes at home and sparked interest in both watercolour and acrylics.
Her classes were relaxed and fun, which again made me feel confident to try different techniques and styles.

Jilly, a local and very talented artist, offered up the amazing opportunity to engage with a couple of blocks of art classes at the Bowhouse, near St Monans, Fife.
These classes were extremely professional, offering stimulating and engaging topics every week. We explored various mediums including drawing, charcoal, pastel, water colour, ink, and acrylic paint.
I felt that each week, I gained in confidence and ability through Jilly’s teaching methods and her ability to encourage and celebrate each artists contribution in a warm and friendly manner, making these classes so much fun and rewarding.

I attended a sip and paint session with Jilly in April of this year. The atmosphere that Jilly created was nice and relaxed and she gave me, as a beginner, the confidence to go for it with the exercise she gave us.
She showed us some examples of work that she’d done with clear explanations of how she created them, then gave us the confidence to start our own.
The whole session was fun and relaxed with lots of friendly encouragement and suggestions if needed from Jilly.
I’ll definitely booking myself on the next sip and paint.

Five painting lessons with Jilly and I learned so much. Hadn't 'painted' since primary school and Jilly's course set the foundation for a total new way of expressing myself.
We were a group of 12 of all levels and we all agreed there was inspiration and techniques for all of us. Jilly's experience and talent for teaching as well as making beautiful art is a rare combination.
As a teacher myself I know sharing your expertise in an atmosphere that brings out the best in them takes years of hard work and preparation. Jilly masters this skill and i am very happy she brought me back to the world of colours.

I’ve attended a couple of Jilly’s classes recently and thoroughly enjoyed both - a sgraffito ceramic workshop, and a paint & sip event.
Jilly was super prepared for both, providing quality materials, clear step by step demos and guidance, and lots of support in her naturally friendly, bubbly manner which made for a lovely relaxed, fun experience, and creations to be proud of.

Jilly is a well organised, enthusiastic and most important of all extremely encouraging art teacher. I have taken part in several terms of classes with her over the past couple of years using various techniques including different types of printing, drawing, design and colour theory. Painting techniques included watercolour, acrylic, and gouache.
Jilly is a master at getting the best out of each and every pupil no matter what their ability providing thematic, personal and visual prompts to encourage experimentation. I enjoyed every minute of her classes which were both relaxing and confidence building but also inspiring.

Jilly is an incredibly talented artist with a huge range of skills. Her own acrylic paintings are beautiful and distinctive, with a unique style that really reflects her creativity and personality.
The classes were always varied and thoughtfully planned, giving us the opportunity to learn and experiment with lots of different techniques and materials, including printing, watercolours, charcoal and acrylic paints. Jilly would introduce each new technique with an activity that allowed us to experiment and build our confidence before using what we had learned to create a finished piece. This made the classes accessible and enjoyable, whatever your previous experience or artistic ability.
The small group setting meant that everyone received plenty of individual guidance and encouragement. Jilly was excellent at adapting her teaching to suit different abilities, helping you when needed while still allowing you the freedom and confidence to develop your own ideas and style.
What made the classes particularly special, though, was Jilly herself. She is warm, friendly, encouraging and great fun to be around. She created such a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that everyone felt comfortable, included and able to enjoy being creative.
I thoroughly enjoyed the classes and always looked forward to them. Jilly combines genuine artistic talent with the ability to teach, encourage and bring out the best in others. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her as an art teacher, and I would happily attend any class taught by her again.

Jilly is a creative painter in her own right and is able to capture your imagination and develop your skills as an artist to be. She is lively, patient and a fantastic enabler. If you join her classes you will be pleased with your development.
